VYTAUTAS STRAIŽYS — SHORT BIOGRAPHY

Vytautas Straižys is a pianist, singer and arranger. He trained in classical piano at the
National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Arts and continued his studies in jazz piano and
improvisation at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague and at Codarts in Rotterdam. He won
his first international competition at nine, began performing with the Lithuanian Chamber
Orchestra at eleven, and took the Grand Prix at the regional jazz piano competition Jazz
Improvizacija in 2007. He performs solo, in duo with singers and with ensembles; his
specialisations include the music of Bill Evans and the American Songbook. In 2023 he
founded the Downtown Piano Lab music club in Vilnius, where he serves as artistic director.
